MT HOOD & THE
COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE

Enjoy Your Winter Adventures Car Free!

Now is the time to enjoy Mt Hood Territory and the Columbia River Gorge in all their winter glory. With a hefty base of snow, the region is a winter wonderland waiting for you to explore! Even better, if you don’t want to deal with parking, or just don’t like driving in the snow, there are lots of options for public transportation!

Wanting to head out to Mt Hood for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, or just to play in the snow? The Mt. Hood Express runs seven days a week and is only $2 each way. The route runs from Sandy all the way up to Timberline Lodge with stops in between, with a ski box for you to stow your gear. Leave any worries about road conditions or parking availability behind. All you’ll have to think about is what your mid-snow day lunch will be.

If Hood River is your base camp, you can take the Columbia Area Transit (CAT) up to Mt. Hood Meadows via the FREE Gorge to Mountain Express. We recommend making a whole day of it! Spend the day enjoying mountain life, then head back down to Hood River for post exploration libations at pFriem Family Brewers, perfectly nestled along the Columbia River. Coming from Portland or The Dalles instead? Not to worry! Start your journey on the Columbia Gorge Express, then link up with the Gorge to Mountain Express for your stress-free travel experience.

With so many options to go car free, your winter adventures will be a breeze!
