Explore The Dalles this Fall

08/27/2019 | Hiking, Road Trip, The Dalles

Do the chillier mornings and evenings have you thinking about your fall excursions? The Dalles is a sensational getaway for those looking to escape the fall rain and embrace the sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures in the eastern Gorge.

The Dalles roads are perfect for cycling this time of year. With little traffic, beautiful scenery, and a drier climate you can enjoy hours spent in the sunshine cycling. And as the leaves in the cherry orchards begin to change, it’s more than worth the trip out Mill Creek or Cherry Heights Road to enjoy gorgeous views of orange, gold, and red. Families can also enjoy sunny, and cool hiking all fall long.

When you’re done enjoying the view head over to Sandoz Farm Stand for jams, pickled goods, local meat, and produce. Take a drive through the beautiful Eastern Gorge and take a detour to Freebridge Brewing or Sunshine Mill Winery for quality craft beverages, which pair perfectly with a gorgeous fall afternoon in The Dalles. Take a stroll along the waterfront trail, or stop in at Coastal Farm and Ranch and get your fishing license just in time to drop a line into the Columbia River during the fall salmon run.

If it’s running excursions you’re after, check out this calendar for a listings of fun runs in The Dalles.
