Beat the heat: Check out these fun new ways to stay cool on the water in Mt. Hood Territory

This summer is  off to a toasty start (to say the least!). The hot weather has us thinking about hitting the water (in stylish lifejackets, of course), so we checked in with some of our favorite guides and outfitters to find out if there are new ways to cool off in our lakes and rivers this year.

Their answer? Yes!

Mt. Hood Outfitters now offers watercraft rentals from Timothy Lake’s Pine Point boat launch on a first come, first served basis. Pro tip: This summer, it’s also the only lake they rent from where canoes are available.

Mt. Hood Outfitters, headquartered in Government Camp, has always been a go-to guide and outfitter because of their great service and long list of offerings. In a typical summer they promote a mix of land and water tours, including kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, and fishing. And in the wintertime, they’re the only ones licensed to offer snowmobiling on Mt. Hood. Plus, they have cross country skiing, snowshoeing and sleigh rides available.

Down the mountain in Estacada, Clackamas River Outfitters now offers a shuttle (a totally legit old school bus) between Milo McIver State Park and Barton Park for all the tubers on the Lower Clackamas River, which you can reserve online for a Float & Ride! They also have tube rentals available you can book after reserving the shuttle.

Clackamas River Outfitters is best known for their guided trips and rentals on Estacada Lake, with put-ins at both Timber Park and Milo McIver, as well as whitewater paddle tours. They also sell a ton of new and lightly used gear from their shop in downtown Estacada.
