Have the Mountain to Yourself and Travel Mid-Week to Mt. Hood

02/07/2019 | Mt Hood Territory, Mt. Hood, Skiing, Snowboading

Being one of the best mountains in the Pacific Northwest also means more and more people want to visit Mt. Hood each winter. Which is great! For those looking for the best experience though -- meaning less traffic, easier parking, shorter lift lines and more wide-open terrain -- we recommend hitting the slopes mid-week. It’s also more affordable this season with plenty of mid-week ski and lodging deals in Oregon’s Mt. Hood Territory.

Timberline Lodge & Ski Area boasts the Pacific Northwest’s largest vertical terrain with 3,690 vertical feet (1,125 meters) and some of the state’s most scenic skiing. The lodge is a National Historic Landmark and is the only ski-in/ski-out lodge in Oregon. Experience it for yourself from now until May 23, and if you stay one night any Sunday through Thursday (excluding holidays), then you and a guest can ski or snowboard for free the following day. Or if you are already a Timberline Ski Area Season Pass Holder, you'll receive 35% off mid-week overnight stays at Timberline Lodge (excluding holidays).

Collins Lake Resort is located in downtown Government Camp and conveniently situated across the street from Mt. Hood Skibowl. Guests who stay Sunday through Thursday receive two free lift tickets per day at Mt. Hood Skibowl and two free lift tickets per reservation at nearby Timberline Lodge & Ski Area.

Any night is a good night to visit Mt. Hood Skibowl, which features 36 fully lit runs, making it the largest night ski area in the United States. But don’t forget that Tuesday nights are an especially great time to visit, as they offer "Ladies Night" for just $25 from 3-10 pm through April. That's a $17 savings off a regular night ticket.

There are also plenty of amazing mid-week deals for cabins and vacation rentals. At Summit Meadow Cabins stay two nights at the regular rate and get the third night free, or add a Thursday or Sunday to a weekend stay for half of the regular mid-week nightly price. Whispering Woods is offering a free third night with two-night stay, as well as 15% off standard room rates for two-night stays Sunday through Thursday. And Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals is offering up to 20% off weekend rates to stay Sunday through Thursday.

This winter is the perfect time to visit and explore Oregon’s Mt. Hood Territory. And visit mid-week to make it that much more magical.
