Snow Play A New Way

06/22/2016 | Mt Hood Territory, Recreation, Skiing, Snowboading

Standing tall at 11,250 feet, Mt Hood is a beautiful sight to behold... and even more fun to play in. For skiers, Mt. Hood offers 4 ski resorts including the longest ski season in North America. For those looking for a new way to adventure on the mountain, we recommend snowshoeing, cosmic tubing, or backcountry skiing.

Snowshoeing: Many of your favorite spring and summer trails in the Mt. Hood National Forest lend perfectly to winter wonderland snowshoeing journeys. Check the Forest Service's list of ideas on where to trek and what to pack. Not ready to venture out on your own? Book a guide from Mt. Hood Adventure to follow trails deep into the forest to discover snow covered old growth trees and see native birds, animals, tracks and more as your guide provides local knowledge and stories about the area. Fun fact: kids and dogs are welcome on these tours.

Cosmic Tubing: What happens when you match snow tubing with a disco/night club setting? Cosmic tubing. Every winter Mt. Hood Skibowl turns on the party lights and turns up the volume for a fun and festive nighttime tubing experience.

Backcountry skiing: Tired of taking the path well-traveled? Forge a fresh new route on crosscountry skis out near the White River Sno-Park. Just make sure to stock up on all your supplies and skis at Doug's Hood River
