Meet the Neighbors in The Dalles

Welcome to The Dalles, Oregon! Steeped in rich history and seasoned by the friendly people who call it home, The Dalles is an unexpected delight nestled along the banks of the Columbia River. The Dalles is a quick drive east of Portland, where the skies are sunny, the breeze pleasant, and the rolling golden hills unfurl like a royal carpet. Arrive by boat and you’ll be greeted at the docks by the waving feather boas of the Fort Dalles Floozies and Friends! Take a tour of The Fort Dalles Museum and Anderson Homestead, one of Oregon’s oldest and well-preserved museums, reverberating with the echoes of fur traders, river rats, native people, and immigrant families. Put up your feet and let the kiddos play among the trees at Sorosis Park. And of course, you’ll want to meander the cafes, breweries, and shops in the historic downtown, where the neighbors of The Dalles wait to greet you with a warm smile and a friendly wink.

(psst: Keep your eye out for second-story windows flaunting a red dot in the downtown area, evidence that many moons ago the building was once a “place of negotiable affection”, wink wink.)

Meet more of our neighbors here.
